Virtual Seminar 2017-2020

The Sovietic Russia 1917-1991

On June 11, 2017, I opened the Preamble to a new virtual seminar to cover the whole era of Soviet Russia, from the 1917 Revolution to the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 :

I had thought, when I started writing this Preamble, that mystudy was going to complete the virtual seminar devoted to the three major powers in the first two decades of the twenty-first century - the USA, China and Russia. As it has developed, my virtual seminar has grown to a greater extent than I imagined at the time of undertaking it. After a number devoted to the USA, three dealt with China and one with Russia (covering the period 1991-2015, which is that of the new post-Soviet Russia). This is where my research was directed, without I realizing it, towards a new development. My first project on Russia was to go back in time with a number dedicated to the Soviet period and another in the long period that goes from the establishment of the Rurikides in 862 to the fall of the Romanov in 1917. It was to misunderstand the breadth of the matter to be treated, and I were still in the illusion of imagining that I could divide on two numbers of the JMA the historical and astrological analysis of the Soviet period. In these conditions, to deal with the long period of more than ten centuries which preceded us, seemed to me impossible to undertake in the immediate future, but I keep the project for later. In fact, the number 9 of the JMA, devoted to the study of the new tripolar global order and to the period 2017-2021, must be considered as the conclusion of the virtual seminar which concerns the three great powers, a seminar that took place therefore extended over the two years 2015 and 2016.

Thus, with the year 2017 opens a new virtual seminar devoted Soviet Russia (1917-1991), which will extend until the end of 2019. I  give below the general plan.

I  have yet to point out that a number of chapters of this long history will find place not in this series of numbers of the JMA, but in separate issues of the JMA-History. A first issue has already been published in March 2017, dealing with the February Revolution and the abdication of Nicolas II. Another will follow, in September, on the October Revolution and the establishment of Bolshevik power. The Cuban crisis of the autumn of 1962 will be the subject of another separate study, as will the coup of  August 19, 1991.

Finally, let me remember that I have other topics that we absolutely want to discuss in the years to come: the history of civilizations and the reflection on a new paradigm of mundane astrology. These other virtual seminars can be published from 2020 or, possibly, in parallel with the seminar on Soviet Russia that I am inaugurating here in June 2017”.

It should be pointed out that at the beginning of 2018 this seminar is scheduled to last until December 2020. This is due to the distribution of the material in the various parts, as well as to the integration in this area of the following three themes : the 1962 Cuban crisis ; the assassination of J. F. Kennedy and the putsch of  August 19, 1991. It is therefore only at the beginning of 2021 that the long-awaited seminar on the history of civilizations can be started in the light of mundane astrology.

These repeated delays could seem painful: in fact, they have also allowed a deepening of the astrological analyzes integrating the Transneptunians and an improvement of methods and tools of interpretation. To the point that it would almost be necessary, at the present stage, to resume from the beginning all the previous astrological studies - which is obviously impracticable. Today, the complete plan of this seminar is well established and everything will be done to maintain and push the realization to the end without changing its volume and tempo.

Note about the astrological coherence

My seminar on the Soviet period finds a very solid and astrologically coherent framework, taking as its guideline the double Saturn-Neptune cycle of 1917-1953-1989, constant reference in all the writings of André Barbault devoted to mundane astrology. These two cycles define, according to their evolutionary and involutive phases, four parts :

The evolutionary cycle 1917-1936

The involutionary cycle 1936-1953

The evolutionary cycle 1953-1971

The involutionary cycle 1971-1989

I will introduce each of these parts by the study of significant personal charts of the main leaders of the Soviet Union between 1917 and 1991 (the "Porticoes"). This study also gives me a first opportunity to analyze over a relatively long period - 73 years and
a half - the evolution of the Transneptunians system. First - principally, one might say - in themselves, taken as a whole as a proper system ; thus, the planetary cycles of the Transneptunians evolve around the Zodiac with durations ranging from 1100 years (Zeus-Poseidon) to 9000 years (Admetos-Vulcanus). At this level of view, the interpretation of the system can not relate to current historical events ; their own semantic field is perhaps significant in terms of a history of civilizations over a very long period : the thing is still to be studied and proved - it will be one of the objects of my virtual seminar on the history of civilizations in regard with mundane astrology.

However, my practice of mundane astrology, since it fully integrates the analysis of the Transneptunians in relation to the classical planets - and in particular with the ten cycles of the slows from Jupiter to Pluto - brings out two ways of dealing with the influence of Transneptunians in a historical perspective in the short term or over periods spanning several decades, even some centuries. One can, in fact, take into consideration the cyclic phases of planetary figures taken two by two, by classifying them according to their order of importance and according to the duration of the considered aspect. Such configurations come to "color" the backdrop on which cyclic phases are faster. It is a question of hierarchizing celestial signatures for a given period and of analyzing them according to their specific meaning. To this first approach, fundamentally cyclical, is added another, in the framework of what I would like to call a "laser astrology", which consists in integrating, in any chart drawn up for a specific moment in time and located in space, the often abundant presence of mid-points mixing classical and transneptunian factors, which I will collect in underlying layers (at more or less abyssal depths depending on the harmonic scale we are refers). In this regard, the Transneptunians are fully involved in the analysis of the chart, neither more nor less than the classical factors. These clusters of mid-points often provide rich information and significantly enrich the analysis in relation to a purely conventional approach (excluding consideration of Transneptunian factors). It remains to complete and refocus these analyzes according to the needs of the mundane astrology, what I started to do with the development of a WeltRegelwerk on the model of the famous Regelwerk of Witte-Lefeldt.

RAM 10-1 – Préambule

X

The Preamble has three parts : one devoted to matters of method on the astrological level, the other to the historical sources on which I have relied for the study of the Soviet period from the October Revolution to the fall of the Soviet Union. A third part is devoted to the study of the cyclic table of the period 1917-1991.

The first part proposes a reflection on the double approach that one can have in the treatment of Transneptunians : a cyclical approach, based on very long cycles, around 10,000 years old, and a "laser" approach, which examines the interference of Transneptunian factors in classical charts, with the flow of mid-points attached to an anchor point on the Zodiac.

The second part presents our historical sources, the most important of which is the work of Dmitry Volkogonov, who devoted four fundamental works to the seven leaders of the Soviet period, from Lenin to Gorbachev. I first present the formation of this future Soviet general, who will detach himself from Marxism-Leninism as his explorations in the secret archives of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Then his military and political career, which will eventually make him a military adviser to President Yeltsin, as well as several personal testimonies he left on his activities and meetings, a valuable document on the foreign policy of the Kremlin. Finally, the work of the head of archives and historian who brings exceptional insights into the secrets of the Politburo and the exercise of power at the highest level of the Soviet nomenklatura.

Complementary to the work of Volkogonov is the testimony of Pavel Soudoplatov, a very senior official of the security and espionage services within the NKVD, who oversaw the assassination of Trotsky and the obtaining of scientific documents allowing the Soviets to to acquire nuclear weapons after the Second World War. I present his career and also his very enlightening testimonies. A recent book by Alexei Pavliukov captures the grim personality of Nikolay Iejov, Stalin's chief agent during the Great Terror (1937-1939). A historian of the concentration camp system, which he suffered personally, David Rousset published in 1973 a fundamental work on the transformation of the workers state from the October Revolution to a bureaucratic state inserted in the global capitalist system of its time. La Société éclatée (The fragmented Society) is particularly instructive on the repressive system perfected by Stalin as the privileged instrument of the exercise of power in the service of the bureaucratic caste.

Finally, the works of Stéphane Courtois and his team in Livre noir du Communisme (The Black Book of Communism), published in 1997 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, constitute an essential document on the crimes of communism throughout the world and on the totalitarian logic of a system that continues its ravages even today.

The third part proposes a cyclical table of the period 1917-1991, highlighting some fundamental characteristics of the period : the Hades-Admetos-Poseidon triplice, the Apollo-Vulcanus square, the Zeus-Kronos square. This part ends with an analysis of the Ingress of Ariès of 1917.

RAM 10-2 – Introduction – Portique I- La Trinité du Mal

This introductory part consists of two elements: a General Introduction and Portico I - The Trinity of Evil.

The General Introduction presents the charts of the evolutionary cyclical phases of the Saturn-Neptune duo, ranging from the 1917 conjunction to the 1936 opposition.

Portico I takes its title "The Trinity of Evil" from an essay by Vladimir Volkoff that offers a metaphysical reading of communism, whose malignity has been incarnated, historically, in the Lenin-Stalin-Trotsky triumvirate. This Portico I is devoted to the study of the charts of these three characters.

Keywords : Vladimir Volkoff – Lenin – Stalin – Trotsky

RAM 10-3 – La guerre civile 1917-1918

This part is about the first two years of the civil war in Russia (1918-1919). Graphic ephemerides show the evolution of global cycles quarter by quarter.

The sections of this part are : the causes of the civil war, the unfolding of the civil war in 1917-1918, the Red Terror.

In 1917, at the time of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction at 5° Lion (in conjunction with the Cupido/Zeus mid-point), Russia suffered a cataclysm such as no previous revolution, so radical or so brutal was it had not registered. In a few months it was not only the state that had collapsed, but the entire social body. Within a few months, as soon as the Bolsheviks seized power from the end of 1917 to the summer of 1918, all social groups other than the proletariat and the peasantry were engulfed by a kind of social earthquake, a sudden disintegration of the economy and a generalized jacquerie aggravated by the calls to the social war of the commissars of the people and their brutal attempt at collectivisation of the exchanges. The famine was wreaking havoc, the factories were on strike, bands were scouring a good part of the country, the peasants were hiding their wheat and the army was disintegrating : Russia was plunging into chaos. At the same time, by the treaty of Brest-Litovsk signed with Germany on March 3, 1918, the new Soviet regime abandoned 34% of the population of the Russian empire, 32% of its agricultural land and 89% of its mines of coal. The Bolshevik power led from its beginnings to an economic disaster: nothing works, the factories no longer produce, the banks are only used to pay the wages of the workers, the trains do not roll, the production of coal, oil and melting collapses, the ruble too. The budget presented for 1918 is staggering: 80 billion rubles in expenditure and 4 billion in revenue. The official Soviet history has always been intended to demonstrate that civil war was imposed on the Russian people by capitalist and bourgeois forces who refused to accept the triumph of the "great socialist revolution of October". The analysis of the facts undermines this thesis. The civil war was desired by Lenin and Trotsky, with the prospect of extending it to Europe and the world. From the beginning of the Great War, in November 1914, Lenin wrote : "Transforming the present imperialist war into a civil war is the only truly proletarian slogan". He called for the defeat of his own country and the transformation of an already hideous war into something even more hideous : a nightmarish civil war.

Instead of peace, the country was plunged into a bloody civil war that lasted three and a half years and resulted in the loss of thirteen million people due to fighting, disease, terror and emigration. The famine raged ; the peasants no longer sowed because they knew that their wheat would be confiscated; the industry was in ruins; Russia was cut off from the rest of the world and kept away by almost everyone. The dictatorship of a single party had been established: the Cheka (political police) was already a state in the state. The Constituent Assembly had been dispersed and the regime was waging war against its own people. The slogan "All power to the soviets" had been replaced by "All power to the Bolshevik party", the Politburo having powers far superior to those of any Tsar of the old regime.

RAM 10-4 – La guerre civile 1919-1921

This part deals with the civil war in Russia during the years 1919-1921.

The sections of this part are as follows : the course of the civil war at the end of 1918 and 1919, the unfolding of the 1920 civil war, Kronstadt and the NEP (1921), the teachings of the civil war, the famine of 1921-1922 and religious persecution.

One conclusion deals with the role of Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin in the civil war.

According to estimates by Dimitri Volkogonov, the total number of victims of White terror and Red terror, famine and diseases, including those who have fled the country, is between 10 and 13 million. Then, in the period between civil war and collectivization, that is, in the "happy years of the NEP," about one million people perished in the camps or in the extermination of anti-Soviet resistance in the country. Between 1929 and 1953, the balance sheet increased by twenty-one and a half million victims. The civil war in Russia heralds a new form of conflict, the massive intervention of ideological passion and psychological weapons, the intensive use of terror, the war of partisans, but also the break with the war of 1914- 1918. The Red Army is not a national army but that of a party, it is at the service of a conquering Messianism that justifies absolutely everything. It is an army that breaks with the code of honor and the laws of war instituted after the Thirty Years War by the European armies. The civil war invented the modern total war that recedes the bounds of conscious cruelty, spares nothing and nobody, and intends to mobilize everything and everyone to the inner fiber of each being.

The civil war was not the last plague falling on Russia : the country suffered, in 1921-1922 from a terrible famine. This famine provided Lenin with a pretext for launching a campaign of requisition of the Church's property. Lenin's excessive war inflicted on the Russian Church the most severe physical and spiritual damage it had to endure in its entire history.

Although eventually becoming the victim himself, Trotsky was one of the chief architects of "bureaucratic absolutism," but there is no awareness of it in his writings. The use of the deportation of undesirable politicians had been practiced while he was in power, and far from denouncing this, he had considered it as a normal instrument of his revolutionary practice. Red terror was an essential weapon of the revolution. The years of the revolution and the civil war were unquestionably the culminating point in Trotsky's life. He was considered standing beside Lenin, with whom he was in perfect harmony. Their intellectual and political collaboration was based on their fanatical attachment to  ideas of revolution and Russia's radical restructuring. Trotsky praised the war in which he saw a chance to both eliminate the exploiting classes in Russia and push workers from other countries to the world revolution.

The aim of this section is Lenin's last years in power, when a muted struggle for power between Stalin and Trotsky is already emerging at the top of the Bolshevik hierarchy. The first part deals with Lenin as a public man and a private man; one second of Lenin's illness and death. Then there is a brief account of Lenin: some remarks on Lenin's style, various judgments about him, a review of Lenin in power (Lenin's finances, the Politburo, bureaucratic privileges, the Comintern).

Lenin's readings, such as Dimitri Volkogonov's analysis, testify to the fact that in fact Lenin was much more Blanquist than Marxist. Its favorite author was Chernyshevsky, author of the novel What to do ? published in 1864. In fact, Lenin used Chenychevsky to "Russify" Western Marxism, which contained too many liberal and democratic ideas and too little "class war." He reinforced his general Marxism with all that could make this teaching intangible, brutal and radical. Nechayev, in particular, was more than a supporter of terror, his name was synonymous with a conspiratorial policy including secret plans for the overthrow and ruthless extermination of hated governments. The only two great ideas of Marxism that dominated Lenin's thought were the classes and the class struggle, and the dictatorship of the proletariat.

This part deals with the struggle for power between Stalin and Trotsky. An introduction presents the relationship between the two protagonists and Lenin. A second part evokes the "Lenin Testament". A third part deals with the struggle for power between Stalin and Trotsky from the beginning of 1921 until January 1925, when Trotsky was relieved of all his command posts of the armed forces.

Stalin has always been an aversion to Trotsky: he did not like Trotsky's assurance, his eloquence, his authority, his ability to "make himself known." However, despite radical opposition between their two personalities, both remained typical Bolsheviks, obsessed with violence, dictatorship and coercion. One of the reasons for Trotsky's failure was also that he could not find support for Stalin among the working masses, because he had been cut off by his policy of coercion and militarization of labor.

The 1923-1924 period marked the turning point in the political direction of the country and the first stages of Trotsky's defeat by Stalin. Trotsky first saw his theses rejected several times and he loses control of the armed forces in January 1925, a decisive step that will leave him defenseless against the attacks of Stalin, who created a "Troika" around him to stifle any influence of his opponent within the Politburo. Maintained in the illusion of his excellence by the court of his disciples, Trotsky could only underestimate the taciturn Stalin. The latter had little difficulty in winning Zinoviev and Kamenev to his cause, because both of them, who had great ambitions - especially Zinoviev - feared Trotsky more than Stalin.

At the end of April 1925, the Fourteenth Congress of the Communist Party was held, which was the last during Stalin's lifetime, when criticism and self-criticism were still admitted to the assembly. Though inferior in many respects to Trotsky, Zinoviev, Kamenev, and Bukharin, Stalin had managed to rise to the pinnacle of power because he had chosen the "defense" of Leninism as the weapon of choice and presented himself as the chief interpreter of Lenin's ideas. It is here, in this claimed monopoly of loyalty to Lenin, that lies the "secret" of the Secretary-General's popularity.

JMA n°12 has two parts : the first is devoted to the defeat of Trotsky, which results in his expulsion from all the leading organs of the Soviet Union, then by his relegation to Alma-Ata, finally by his expulsion from the country and his exile to Prinkipo. The second part shows the implementation by Stalin of his program, through five-year plans and collectivization, which revives a new civil war in which the peasantry will be crushed and liquidated, the power using the dreadful weapon of famine to achieve its goals.

Thus, the coup d'état of the Thermidorians - to use the expression of David Rousset - leads to the constitution of the Soviet bureaucracy through two civil wars and to "the building of socialism in an only one country", according to the thesis of Stalin who opposes the conception of the permanent revolution incarnated by Trotsky.

The article begins with an analysis of the general climate of the period that a formula proper to the period 1925-1926, marked by the transit of Saturn on the Hades/Admetos axis related to Neptune/Cupido, synthesizes on the astrological level. The WeltRegelWerk that I develop as and when my analyzes expresses in these terms this formula :

HA/AD=NE/CU+SA - A bureaucratic administration and control system structured by a rigid and constraining central authority, causing fear and anguish, can lead to the blocking of a system or situation. This can be manifested by a great impediment to a traditional life and leading to a dissolution of social and community ties, the system of alliances, family policy, aesthetic canons. It may also involve the depletion of natural resources and serious damage to the Earth's ecosystem, with a loss of sense of reality, causing disillusionment, rancour and revolt.

By analogy with the course of the French Revolution which leads to the overthrow of Robespierre and the victory of the Thermidorians, we can speak of a Thermidorian coup d'état which puts an end to the proletarian phase of the Russian revolution and leads to the constitution of a Soviet bureaucracy of which Stalin will be, for about thirty years, the proxyholder. Trotsky and the opposition on the left-wing now appear as irreconcilable enemies. In April 1926, together with Zinoviev and Kamenev, formerly Stalin's allies, Trotsky formed the unified Left-wing Opposition. Stalin will not cease to expel them from the ruling bodies, and then to exclude them from the Party. Decisive coups were taken to the opposition in 192 7: Trotsky's expulsion from the Komintern, then from the Central Committee (on October 3rd), and finally from the Party in November. From now on, Trotsky is a general without an army. This culminated in Trotsky's relegation to Alma-Ata, Central Asia, in early January 1928. The final stage of his political annihilation - before the final assassination in August 1940 - was his deportation to Constantinople in February 1929.

Thus, the man who, with Lenin, had helped to lay the foundations of a powerful and sinister state system, was finally rejected by it. The long night of Stalin worship began, accompanied by a cynical rewrite of history in which Trotsky, locked in an Orwellian "memory hole", was transformed from hero of the civil war into an anti-hero.

Winner of the opposition of the left-wing, Stalin changes course from 1928 to turn against the opposition of right, whose most eminent representative is Bukharin. The first five-year plan gives priority to heavy industry and forced collectivization in the countryside. In November 1929, Bukharin was removed from the Politburo and the right-wing was eliminated in both the Soviet Union and the Komintern. On December 21, 1929, the official celebration of Stalin's fiftieth birthday marks the beginning of the cult of the personality. Stalin is therefore the undisputed leader of the Communist Party and the master of the country. He then announced the "liquidation of kulaks as a class": his policy of collectivization, which is a revival of the civil war against the peasantry, will result, because of a famine deliberately imposed by the Soviet regime, millions of dead. This was the first bloody mass terror unleashed by Stalin in his own country.

There will be echoes of this terrible plague, which has led unfortunate people to try to survive through the use of cannibalism, in the great novel by Eugenio Corti, The Red Horse. A novel in the tradition of Tolstoy's War and Peace, which plunges into the evil empire and reveals the profound nature of the two faces - Nazi and communist - of totalitarian barbarism. It is the testimony of the unspeakable : hunger, thirst, the loss of human identity, reason, a spectral existence, finally the unleashing of the chtonian forces that explode in the terrible pages devoted to cannibalism in the camps Gulag.

After his relegation to Alma-Ata in January 1928, Trotsky was deported to Constantinople in January 1929. Four stages mark his exile (Prinkipo, Paris, Oslo, Mexico) before his assassination on August 20, 1940 in Coyoacan. The article opens with a presentation of the astrological setting of the period 1928-1942, where the 1932-1937 phase has a particular intensity in a cyclic chart encompassing the slow planets classic (Jupiter to Pluto) and the Transneptunians of the School of Hamburg.

A second part is dedicated to the tragedy of Leon Sedov, son of Trotsky and his closest and most faithful help, engaged in his fight against Stalin but closely watched, unknowingly, by a Soviet agent, Marc Zborowski. Leon Sedov dies in Paris on February 16, 1938 under mysterious circumstances, and Zborowski retains all the confidence of Trotsky, which allows Stalin to be informed of all the publications and activities of the Trotskyist movement in Europe.

A third part deals with Trotsky's stay in Mexico, preparations for his assassination on the orders of Stalin, a first attempt that failed on May 24, 1940 and the fatal act of Ramon Mercader on August 20th following.

RAM 15-1 – La Terreur stalinienne

Image

This article deals with the Stalinist Great Terror, following the assassination of Kirov in Leningrad, on December 1, 1934, which will be carried out successively, under the orders of Stalin, by Iagoda then by Yejov and will cause the death of 800 000 victims and the deportation of four million Soviet citizens to the Gulag camps.

A long astrological prologue is devoted to the articulation between the classical factors (the planetary cycles of the slows, from Jupiter to Pluto) with the Transneptunian factors (from Cupido to Poseidon). This methodological reflection focuses on the two aspects of astrological language : syntax and semantics. The two Saturn-Neptune cycles from 1917 to 1989 are studied in their relationship with the lines of force of the Transneptunian plot around the Apollo/Vulcanus (1936-2057), Zeus/Kronos (1891-1982) and Hades/Admetos 1920-1945) axes.

The assassination of Kirov settles the question of a potential rival of Stalin and allows him to put in place radical judicial procedures that would found the total arbitrariness of terror. This system, of which Stalin was the instigator, was implemented by this "Terror official" Nicolas Iejov with the assistance of the NKVD (organ of Internal State Security). The Yejovchina was punctuated by the great Moscow trials that led to the elimination of the main surviving leaders of the October Revolution: Zinoviev and Kamenev, then Bukharin. After which the repression fell on the very organs of the Terror - including Iejov himself - before diminishing at the end of the year 1938. The arrival of Beria in the NKVD corresponded with the end of the mass operation that had lasted more than a year.

The article also discusses Stalin's entourage, including the troika that constantly surrounded him: Molotov, Kaganovich, and Voroshilov.

The conclusion recalls that the incomparable magnitude of the crimes of the Stalinist Terror was only a monstrous extension of the Bolshevik terror that had been in place since the beginning of the October Revolution.

RAM 15-2 – Le système de la Terreur

Image

This article aims to expose the reasons and the mechanism of the Stalinist terror system, with particular reference to the masterly work of David Rousset, La Société éclatée (The Broken society). He situates his analysis of the Stalinist system between the first proletarian revolution of 1917 in Russia and the advent of a technocratic society that brought imperial dynamics to America in the second half of the twentieth century.

To impose itself, the cult of the personality around Stalin had to resort to the revision and the falsification of the History, aiming at imposing the myth of a direct filiation Lenin-Stalin.

The learned and perverse mechanics of Stalinist trials appear as a sophisticated technique of government. The logic of Stalinist terror rests on the necessity for Stalin to liquidate the "Thermidorians", that is to say the privileged witnesses of his historical falsifications. We can distinguish three periods of repression, during which terror functions as a regulating device of power: from 1928 to 1933; from 1934 to 1941; from 1943 to 1952.

The liquidation of a base of 40,000 Thermidorians, privileged of bureaucratic system, extends to their entourage, touching a million people, then reached the mass popular, causing up to five or six million victims.

The empire of the Gulag is administered by the NKVD, which, as an organ of repression, has a huge reserve of manpower, so that the concentration camp becomes the keystone of the industrialization of remote and underdeveloped areas. Shortly after Stalin's death, the sidelining and liquidation of Beria and Khrushchev's access to power opens a new phase, where the high bureaucracy strips the NKVD of its economic skills and ensures the personal security of dignitaries of the state. From the 1960s, the bureaucratic caste will be confronted with new technological requirements in terms of global competition, which will fuel some of the democratic demands of dissent.

Number 16 of the JMA contains two parts dedicated to the most tragic period that was for Russia the "Great Patriotic War" : the first part deals with the rise to war, the second part of the war itself, with a special insights on Stalin's role and his overwhelming responsibility for the unpreparedness of the Red Army in the face of the shock that was to melt down the country as a result of the criminal beheading of military elites.

In this first part, I first analyze the relations between Stalin and the army at the moment when the Toukhachevski affair broke out, then the rise towards the war that Stalin will try to stop by the German-Soviet Pact of August 23rd, 1939. After the invasion and the collapse of Poland, a period of increasing tensions begins, which will lead to the German-Soviet confrontation. I examine the forces and the strange deafness of Stalin faces the many warnings he receives from all sides.

For the convenience of my readers, I will now separate, in the rest of this virtual seminar, the astrological part of the historical part. With regard to astrology, there will be two types of documents : a PDF document "Astrology", with comments ; and several PDF "Astralities" (one per year), without commentaries, with charts, graphical ephemerides and other tables.

RAM 16-2 – La Grande Guerre patriotique

The second part of No. 16 of the JMA deals with what the Russians call the "Great Patriotic War", a term already used before to denote resistance to the Napoleonic invasion of 1812. My plan is very simple : the disaster - the burst - balance of the war. Besides my usual sources (mainly Dimitri Volkogonov and Pavel Soudoplatov), I will often refer to the American historian Alan Bullock, author of a book published in New York in 1992 on the "parallel lives" of Hitler and Stalin, for the diplomatic part, I found valuable analyzes in Gabriel Gorodetsky's book The Great Game of Fools. Stalin and the German invasion, as well as in the Journal of Ivan Maïski, Soviet Ambassador in London from 1932 to 1943, published by Gorodetsky.

RAM 17 – La Guerre froide

JMA N° 17 deals with the end of Stalin's reign during the early Cold War era, between 1945 and 1953.

The first part, devoted to the beginnings of the Cold War, discusses the development of the Soviet atomic bomb and the role of the intelligence services in obtaining the necessary plans for its manufacture from renowned scientists involved in the project. American Manhattan who loathed to leave the monopoly of this supreme weapon to the USA alone.

Two other themes are then discussed : the Ukrainian question, with the difficulties encountered in relations with the Uniate Church, on the one hand ; the question of Crimea with the project - envisaged by Stalin - to create a Jewish national home there.

The second part of the article deals with Stalin's relations with China's Mao Tse-tung, with Tito's Yugoslavia and its role in the outbreak of the Korean War.

A third part looks at the two most important cases of the new wave of purges that has fallen on the country after the end of the wa r: the Leningrad affair, which will cost Nikolai Voznesensky's life, and the The so-called "white smocks" case - a conspiracy plot against a group of doctors accused of wanting to shorten the life of important figures in the Soviet Union.

The astrological component of JMA N° 17 has four parts :

1° A reflection on the method of analysis used since the beginning of this virtual seminar on Soviet Russia - and especially on the general "architecture" linked to the division of time according to the great planetary cycles. I attempt here to link our practice of wave astrology with the achievements of the cyclic logic implemented by several great masters of world astrology in the twentieth century (Gustave-Lambert Brahy, Andre Barbault, Charles Harvey and Nicholas Campion, by example).

2° A brief study on the entry into the Cold War and an analysis of the chart of the famous speech of Winston Churchill at Fulton, March 5, 1946.

3. A consequent study on the development of the Soviet atomic bomb and on its "performances" acquired at the time of the Cold War. The connection between Russian science and the Cavendish laboratory in Cambridge, led by Errnest Rutherford, is evoked in the 1920s and 1930s. During the Second World War, research in nuclear physics became military, with the aim of producing a atomic bomb : this is in the USA the aim of the "Manhattan" project and in the Soviet Union the constitution of the ultra-secret scientific center known as code Arzamas-16, not far from the city of Sarov - center directed by Igor Kurchatov.

Three highlights are then presented : the explosion of the first Soviet atomic bomb on August 29, 1949 ; then, on November 22nd, that of the H bomb ; finally, on October 30, 1961, that of the monstrous "Tsar Bomba" on a site of New-Zemble.

This part concludes with the chart of the Neptune-Pluto conjunction of 1891, in connection with "the nuclear axis" (8° Gemini-Sagittarius).

4° An astrological study of the Korean War, centered on the theme of the invasion of the South by the North on June 25, 1950. Tables of graphic ephemerides make it possible to follow the various phases of this conflict.

This n° 18 of the JMA  marks the beginning of the second Saturn-Neptune cycle (1953-1989), with the death of Stalin, the brief reign of Beria and the collective leadership around Nikita Khrushchev. This article opens with Portico III, whose theme is the death of Stalin. This crucial moment in the history of the Soviet Union is treated in two ways: first by a presentation of the circumstances of this event, then by the summary of a tragedy of the great Italian novelist Eugenio Corti, published in June 1962 under the title Trial and Death of Stalin.

After that comes an article entitled "Death of Stalin - Beria", which deals with the seizure of power of the latter who appears to be the only leader in capacity to endorse the succession of the late dictator. The article paints a portrait of the character, then examines the brief reign of Beria, whose reform measures indispose his colleagues and threaten, in their eyes, the foundations of Soviet domination in its Eastern European glaze. The fall of Beria occurred on June 26, 1953, less than four months after Stalin's death. A judgment is officially held in December: the execution of Beria, although wrapped in mystery, could have taken place the day of the publication of the verdict in the press, on December 24th.

A third article focuses on the Khrushchev era, from 1953 to its ouster in October 1964. This article begins by following Khrushchev's career, first in Ukraine, then at the center of power in Moscow. His reign is marked by the fragility of his power, still threatened by the clan of old Stalinists, called "anti-party group". This is followed by an analysis of the bureaucratic "de-stalinization" during the two Congresses of the CPSU, the 20th in 1956 and the 22nd in 1961. The other parts of this article deal with the reforms undertaken by Khrushchev (which provoked revolt movements, such as the one in Novocherkassk in June 1962); its foreign policy (especially towards China and Yugoslavia); the space conquest (marked by the successes of the launching of Sputnik and the flight of Yuri Gagarin on April 11, 1961).

To these three historical articles is added an astrological article, the first part of which deals with the year 1953, with the death of Staline and the reign of Beria. A second part is devoted to the reign of Khrushchev, from 1953 to 1964. The article concludes with some considerations on our current approach in the analysis of undulatory flows from an anchor point on a degree of the Zodiac judged particularly significant.

This issue of the JMA, devoted to the Hungarian revolution of 1956, is composed of two parts. The first, the historical part, treats in four phases the tragic events between October 23rd and November 22nd : a brief opening on the sign of a phase of lyrical illusion which changes from the night of October 23rd to 24th in a double murderous confrontation : first, a civil war between the insurgent population and the repressive forces of the regime's political police (the AVH) ; then, very quickly, a war of national liberation where the Hungarian dwarf is confronted with the forces of the Soviet giant and the tanks of the red army. The first Soviet intervention, decided by the Praesidium gathered in the Kremlin under the leadership of Nikita Krushchev, begins on Wednesday, October 24th  at 1:00 am. Faced with the massive and determined resistance of the Hungarian people, the Soviet leadership - always determined to crush the Hungarian insurrection militarily - understands that it is essential for it to gather much larger forces to achieve its ends. It will build a devilish trap to deceive both the Hungarian population and its leaders, civil and military, temporarily withdrawing its forces from the capital and negotiating a future general withdrawal of Soviet troops from Hungary. Budapest is evacuated during the days of October 30 and 31, but considerable reinforcements are massing at the borders and aerodromes are soon under the control of the Soviets. The second Soviet intervention would begin Sunday, November 4. The previous evening, at 6:00 pm, an agreement had been signed between the Soviet and Hungarian military delegations for the withdrawal of the Soviet troops ; the two delegations meet at 10:00 pm to complete the terms of the agreement at the Soviet headquarters in Tököl (about 25 km south of Budapest). Shortly after midnight, the Hungarian military leaders discovered that they were prisoners of the Red Army and, starting at 4:15 am, Budapest was under fire from the most powerful artillery attack ever seen since the shelling of Berlin at the end of the Second World War. The desperate and inevitably helpless resistance of the Hungarians will last for five days in the center of Budapest, until Friday, November 9, and overnight in the suburbs.

The second part, astrological, begins with a study of the charts of Hungary since the installation of Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin, in 896, whose millennium was solemnly celebrated in 1896. The heart of this astrological part is constituted by a study excavated the astralities of the year 1956 (and especially the critical period between mid-October and mid-November) and the analysis of some significant charts in connection with the Hungarian uprising and its brutal crushing.

Two annexes are then presented - without comments. The first offers a series of charts from key personalities from Béla Kun to Viktor Orban. The second presents the topics of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the USSR, which were rather hectic between February 4, 1934 and November 1, 1956, when Hungary proclaimed its withdrawal from the Warsaw Pact.

RAM issue 20 is devoted to the most critical international event that marked the end of Nikita Kjrushchev’s reign: the Cuban crisis, where the world almost fell into horror, nuclear conflict. The consequence of this crisis which pushed the two American and Soviets leaders to engage pore in peaceful coexistence and to negotiate a Treaty of prohibition of the nuclear tests was, on November 22, 1963, the assassination of John Firgerald Kennedy in Dallas.

In the first part, three testimonies shed light on the respective positions of the three main protagonists of the crisis : Khrushchev, Kennedy and Fidel Castro: the most constant source in this seminar, Dimitri Volkogonov, to follow the actions and reactions on the Soviet side; a book by James Douglass, JFK and the Unspeakeable, published in 2013, which analyzes both the October 1962 missile crisis and the Kennedy assassination ; the testimony of journalist Jean Daniel about his meeting with Fidel Castro on the eve and again the same day of the tragic assassination. Also presented is a very stimulating analysis by the American historian William R. Polk, who, adviser to President Kennedy during this critical period, brings his experience of the 1962 crisis to reflect on the threats of a nuclear conflict that may arise during the critical period 2019-2023.

The second part successively deals with the rise of the Kennedy clan, which brought John Fitzgerald to the top of the state during the presidential election of November 1960; the assassination of November 22, 1963; the murder of the designated culprit, Lee Harvey Oswald, by Jack Ruby, two days later; the successor Lyndon Johnson; the fabrication of an official truth and its growing challenge; the assassination of Robert Kennedy in Los Angeles on June 5, 1968, when he had just won the primary for the Democratic camp; sponsors of the assassination; and finally the American deep state - still in place today, under the presidency of Donald Trump.

After a brief presentation on the method used in the framework of wave astrology, the astrological part of this issue has three sections: first, a general analysis of the period 1962-1963; then the Cuban missile crisis in October 1962; finally the assassination of John Kennedy.

This last section presents several charts relating - directly or indirectly - to this event, including those of the birth and death of Abraham Lincoln; those of Lee Harvey Oswald and his murderer Jack Ruby; those of Vice President Lyndon Johnson and directors of the CIA and the FBI (Allen Dulles and Edgar Hoover); and the chart of the assassination of the president’s brother Robert Kennedy, shot dead in Los Angeles on June 5, 1968.
